Mark Wahlberg is no stranger to playing action heroes on the big screen, but how would he fare when the cameras aren't rolling? Exceptionally well, according to the man himself.
In an interview with Men's Journal, Wahlberg, explained how he could have single-handedly stopped the terrorists from crashing the plane into the World Trade Center on 9/11.
"If I was on that plane with my kids, it wouldn't have went down like it did. There would have been a lot of blood in that first-class cabin and then me saying, 'Okay, we're going to land somewhere safely, don't worry.'"
Wahlberg is clearly unaware that in real life the good guy doesn't always win.
Understandably, friends and family of those who died on 9/11 flights are pretty pissed at the actor's tough-talking on the subject.
Deena Burnett-Bailey, a widow of one of the REAL heroic victims, Thomas Burnett, who phoned his wife from that fateful flight saying, "I know we're going to die. There are three of us who are going to do something about it," before rushing the cockpit, told TMZ:
"Does Mark Wahlberg have a pilot's license? Then I think hindsight is 20/20 and it's insignificant to say what you would have done if you weren't there."
"The plan for Flight 93 was foiled by heroes. For him to speculate that his presence on board could have stopped everything is silly and disrespectful. Sounds like someone is grandstanding."
In fairness, Wahlberg, who was actually scheduled to take one of flights that crashed into the World Trade Center but cancelled a few days prior, is certainly no stranger to hardship and overcoming adversity, as he also points out in the interview:
"I mean, because of Entourage, people think that my life is just a big, wild party," he said. "And it is. But these days it's a big, wild Halloween party or Easter egg party."
"I stopped smoking pot a lot of years ago, too."
Sure about that, Mark?
While we're not sure Wahlberg could've stopped 9/11, we reckon this guy would've given it a pretty good go...
