Hate to break it to you, but in this frosty weather there will come a point when your thongs and boardies just don't make the cut. Luckily for you, stylist Sally gives you the low-down on a must-have winter wardrobe.
This week's question:
What are some clothes every bloke should own in winter – Blake, 23
A: To get you through winter both practically and stylishly, there are a few basics every man should have in his wardrobe.
1. The first being a great pair of dark denim jeans.

A darker wash denim is more versatile than a light, vintage or faded wash as it can be easily smartened up with a great jacket and shoes. Choose a pair that works for you, but if your usual look is wide or bootcut style, try a straight leg for a tapered, modern fit.
2. The second winter wardrobe essential is the coat.

There are some really affordable men’s coats around, ranging from double breasted styles, the trench, hooded and military style. The key to a good jacket is the fit across the shoulders, the fabric and cut. Look for wool or wool blends that will provide warmth, styles that flatter your physique and have good structure at the shoulders. Coats shouldn’t be too snug as there needs to be room for other garments underneath, but avoid oversized, shapeless coats that will outdate your look. Knitwear is also a must for winter. From slim knit jumpers to zipped woolen hoodies, a fitted jumper adds an extra layer and can be worn on its own over a shirt or t-shirt, or under a coat or jacket.
3. Finally every bloke needs a great pair of leather shoes.
Whether it’s a boot, a slip-on or a lace up, shoes will finish off any outfit and bad shoes can ruin an entire look. Brown leather shoes are best for smart casual, and paired with jeans, a knit and coat, you’ll be good to go this winter.
