JENNIFER HAWKINS: TO BE OR NOT TO BE?

Pictures of Jennifer Hawkins’ ribs protruding more than her boobs at a fashion show recently made us wonder if Aussie women and men have similar views on the preferred female form. You’d be surprised.
The ideal size of woman’s body has caused polemical debate for years and every bloke has a preference. But is the ideal female form that Aussie blokes prefer on par with what woman think we want?

According to a study conducted by the University of NSW earlier this year, Australian men prefer the curvaceous shape of the ‘girl-next-door’ more appealing than the 'perfect' proportions of models and centrefolds. Moreover, blokes find the most attractive body shape of all as being “Miss Average” - a 5ft 4in (1.64m) female with a 30in waist and 40in hips who wears a size 14. This means, the Jennifer Hawkins of the world would be second choices to say, the Christina Hendricks. And judging by Hawkins’s recent pictures, we’d choose Hendricks’s voluptuous, buxom body to that of Hawkins’s – unless you don’t mind a trip to skeleton city.

But, researchers did caution that adding other factors into the mix, including bust size, could alter the result. However, if we consider the recent findings of the Askmen survey, we doubt breast size would alter this finding at all seeing as 46% of Aussie men say that their preferred breast size is a C-cup, followed by 24% saying that breast size isn’t that important. Oh, and 54% of Australian men wouldn’t dump their missus if she became fat (just thought we’d add that in there to show how sweet us Aussie blokes are).

This is all well and good but we wanted to know what women think, so we took to the streets and asked female passersby what size they think men want and what size they prefer (hey, any excuse to speak to gorgeous women with minimal chance of rejection works for us).

“Feedback from our customers would be 10-12 for sure. Most large women when they lose weight, they are happy with staying a 12. But men would love a size 10. Maybe it’s just a simple number for them to remember.”

Misha, 25-year-old editorial assistant thinks differently, with size 8-10 being the ideal size for women
“I think size 8-10 is the ideal size of women. A Size 8 for men, definitely, with booty and boobs”
